Stop Guessing: Introducing Preview Mode for New Languages

Launching a new language used to be a nerve-wracking “ship it and see” moment. Not anymore. With our new Preview Mode, you can verify every translation in context before your visitors see a thing.

Machine translation is fast, but context is everything. A word that looks correct in a spreadsheet might break your site’s header or feel slightly off when paired with your hero image.

Until now, adding a language to SwiftLingo meant it went live immediately. You had to scramble to check the production site for layout shifts or translation quirks. It was a source of stress that didn’t need to exist.

We’ve fixed that.

Control Your Launch

We’ve introduced Publishing Controls and a dedicated Preview Mode. It’s a simple change that gives you complete control over your global presence.

When you add a new language, you can now keep it in a “Draft” state. It’s fully translated and ready to go, but it won’t appear in your public language switcher until you say so.

How it works:

  1. Toggle “Require Publishing”: In your site settings, you can now choose to require manual approval for all new languages.
  2. Hit “Preview”: Open a live, fully-functional version of your site in the new language.
  3. Verify in Context: Browse your pages, check your buttons, and ensure your SEO titles look exactly right.
  4. Publish with Confidence: Once you’re happy, click “Publish” to make it live for the world.

Why Context Matters

Why go through the extra step? Because static translations don’t tell the whole story.

English is concise. German is… not. A five-word sentence in English can easily double in length once translated, which often leads to broken navigation bars or overlapping text.

By using Preview Mode, you catch these design issues before they affect your conversion rates. It’s about maintaining a professional brand image in every market, from day one. For more tips on managing your global presence, check out our Translation Management guide.

Ready When You Are

Expansion shouldn’t feel like a risk. Whether you’re launching one new language or ten, you deserve the peace of mind that comes with knowing exactly how your site looks to a global audience.

This update is live for all accounts. Head to your dashboard to enable publishing controls and start launching with confidence.
